As Doncic took to the mic and began talking about the Mavs’ big win, a strange noise in the background began to awkwardly interrupt the proceedings.
OKLAHOMA CITY — Dallas Mavericks star Luka Doncic sat down for his postgame press conference late Thursday night after a 119-110 series-tying win over the Oklahoma City Thunder.
Then things got weird.
As Doncic took to the mic and began talking about the Mavs’ big win, a strange noise in the background began to awkwardly interrupt the proceedings. It appeared to be audio emanating from someone’s laptop in the media room.
In any case, it was loud enough for Doncic and everyone else in the room to hear it, and the podium mics picked it up as well.
And what was heard on said audio? Well, this is a family website, and we haven’t yet cleared with the bosses how best to describe it.
Thankfully, Doncic’s hilarious reaction tells the story.
“I hope that’s not live,” Doncic told the room of laughing reporters.
Here’s the full clip from postgame:
Doncic navigated the awkward moment about as well as the Mavs navigated Game 2 to get the Western Conference semifinals back to even.
Dallas jumped to an early lead and held off the top-seeded Thunder, as Doncic dropped 29 points on his still-sprained right knee.
P.J. Washington matched Doncic’s 29 points and also grabbed 11 rebounds. Mavs guard Kyrie Irving only score nine but he dished out 11 assists, while Tim Hardaway contributed 17 points off the bench.
The Mavs and Thunder return for Game 3 at the American Airlines Center in Dallas on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. on WFAA.
