Man shot, critically wounded while leaving South Side bar

SAN ANTONIO – San Antonio police are searching for a suspect who robbed and shot a man outside a bar on the city’s South Side early Wednesday morning.

The incident occurred around 2:15 a.m. outside the Mustang Sally’s bar in the 3400 block of Roosevelt Avenue, not far from Southeast Military Drive.

According to police, the victim was shot multiple times and the male suspect fled on foot. Officers have been searching the area for the suspect.

KSAT12 spoke to a man connected to the bar who said the victim was a customer who was leaving around closing time. He said the victim walked to his car, which was parked toward the back of the building, and was confronted by a guy in a black hoodie. He says the gunman ripped the victim’s watch off his arm, then shot him.

The victim, a man likely in his 30s, was hit both in his hand and the upper body. He was taken by ambulance to an area hospital, in critical condition.

SAPD is now trying to use surveillance video for clues, which may have showed the whole incident.

The San Antonio Police Department, the San Antonio Fire Department and EMS all responded to the call.

The investigation is ongoing, police said.
