Marco Rubio Goes on CNN, Dana Bash Probably Wishes He Hadn’t After He Crushes Her Warped Trump Narrative

Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL), rumored to be one of the final three candidates for Trump’s choice of running mate, appeared on CNN’s “State of the Union” Sunday and refused to accept host Dana Bash’s warped narrative of Trump’s intentions should he retake the presidency. Even as we’ve witnessed example after example of the Biden administration using the Department of Justice as a weaponized political tool, those on the left deflect and say it’s actually Trump who’s the danger here.

What a load of you know what.

Bash tried to sell that narrative to Rubio, but he wasn’t having it.

“Senator, Donald Trump has said that he would go after Joe Biden, that he would go after members of the Biden family. That’s never something that we’ve heard— ,” Bash began.

“Donald Trump has said that his — no, he hasn’t. I watched the debate — you guys did a great job — I watched it and he was asked and he said, ‘My vengeance will be winning and restoring America, making America great again.’ He did not say, ‘I’m gonna go after them,’ and so forth and, ‘I’m gonna put them in jail,’” Rubio jumped in.

Watch:

Rubio does not say whether Trump has told him about being his running mate.

Rubio is correct that Trump has said in the past that success will be his revenge.

Trump’s Down but Not Out—’My Revenge Will Be Success’

(Note: That headline was written just after he’d just been convicted in the Manhattan business fraud trial; that’s why it says “down but not out.”)

Bash plodded on:

“Not at the debate, but he has said it elsewhere. Not at the debate, you’re right. He’s said it elsewhere,” Bash corrected.

“He has repeatedly said that his revenge will be to make America great again, to undo all their bad public policies. And, by the way, he was president for four years. He didn’t go after Hillary Clinton, he didn’t go after Joe Biden, he didn’t go after Barack Obama, he didn’t go after any of their consultants. We didn’t see under him what we’re seeing now,” Rubio said.

Exactly. Trump has a track record, and he didn’t try to turn the country into a banana republic like Biden has.

Although Trump said in 2023 he would consider appointing a special prosecutor to investigate Biden’s handling of classified documents, he has more recently gone on record saying that such a move would be bad for the country:

He told Fox News’ Sean Hannity in June 2024 that, while he would have “every right” to go after his political opponents, it would be “wrong.”

“So number one, they’re wrong. It has to stop because otherwise we’re not going to have a country,” Trump had told Hannity. “Look, when this election is over, based on what they’ve done, I would have every right to go after them. And it’s easy because it’s Joe Biden and you see all the criminality.”

I concur with this social media poster: Rubio crushed Bash in this mini-debate.
