SAN ANTONIO – A motorcyclist who was found dead after a crash early Friday morning may have gone unnoticed by others before an alert driver spotted him on the side of a far West side highway, according to San Antonio police officers at the scene.
Officers said the driver first noticed the motorcycle, down in a grassy area along Loop 1604 near West Military after 3 a.m.

Soon after, she spotted a man lying nearby and called 911.
Police responding to that call determined that the motorcyclist was dead.
A preliminary report says investigators discovered that the man lost control of his motorcycle and went into a side skid, which then tossed him about 20 feet from the bike.
He died from his injuries.
Officers at the scene said they were not sure how long the man, who was in his 40s, had been there before that driver noticed.

They said because he was in a grassy area, it is possible other people had driven by without noticing him.
As of late Friday morning, police had not released the name of the man who was killed.
