While at Peach Jam, McDermott was the fourth-leading scorer and the second-leading rebounder. However, when asked how he felt about not getting a McDonald All-American invite McDermott expressed frustration.

In the interview with Houston Roundball, he says he’s known since January. Had some decent schools after him, so this is very confusing.

Wood was led by McDonald’s All-American and Miami signee Jalil Bethea, but McDermott led Washington to a 79-77 victory with 25 points, 28 rebounds, three assists and three blocks.

You see players in basketball get offered very early. Many of those aren’t committable offers by the time they are seniors. For example Georgetown offered him 4 years ago. You offer in case he turns into a monster and you can say; “Remember we were in on your since the beginning and believed in you from the start”. And if he doesn’t turn into a monster then you are like, yeah things changed and we are going in different direction.
Also the offers from Georgetown, Ole Miss and SMU came from staffs who have since been fired.
But the Ags were also one of those early offers.
And, in spite of what some posters inexplicably wanted earlier this season, our coaching staff was NOT fired.

TexAgs staff and A&M basketball social media accounts both would have something if this was anything other than a PWO. Texags is always on top of it within minutes.
Just celebrating that the Houston High School player of the year potentially suiting up for our Aggies in 2024!
There’s no way this is a PWO. He’s a scholarship level player and well known high level recruit in the state. Was wondering that same thing this morning. Maybe waiting for someone to bounce out to announce, who knows

So you think TexAgs staff is just sleeping on the job? A site that is always on top of commits. Even if it was a surprise they would have had an article within 2 hours if this was not a walkon situation.
I think they’re sleeping either way. Even if he is a PWO, this is a dude that warrants a write up. Maybe Hop is still drunk on McKinley Jackson going to the bengals

Seems there’s posters that will complain if we DON’T get a top recruit. Then those posters complain / question when we DO get someone.
Seems for basketball there aren’t as many fans as there are skeptics.

A&M came out of nowhere in his announcement. A&M hat wasn’t on the table. He revealed he was wearing a PV A&M shirt and put on the PV hat. But then said he was kidding and going to Texas A&M.
Maybe he just wasn’t even on staff’s radar and everyone is on vacay this weekend that writes up on hoops?
