San Antonio police have similar questions regarding two separate incidents early Wednesday that left two men wounded.
In one case, officers found a man who had been beaten and shot in the leg outside a home in the 800 block of W. Theo.

They were answering a call about the shooting shortly before 2:30 a.m. when they found the 28-year-old victim near the edge of a driveway outside a home.
Police say that man was being uncooperative and refused to tell them who shot him or why.

Officers detained two people from the home who they called witnesses, questioned them, then let them go.
One of those people later told KSAT 12 News he did not know the man who was shot, but simply had called for help after finding him bleeding.
He also said he did not know where the shooting actually happened.
Police also were at a loss when it came to finding another crime scene on the Southeast Side a few hours later.
They found a man suffering from a stab wound on his arm outside a convenience store near Dollarhide and Pecan Valley Road.
Officers say he told them he had gotten into a fight with his boyfriend at another location, and that his boyfriend had chased and stabbed him.
He says he then made his way to the store after 5:30 a.m. where he called for help.
The 30-year-old victim also was taken to a hospital by ambulance.
At last check, police had not made any arrests in this case either.
