A San Antonio brand is recalling 2-pound packages of pulled pork that were sold at H-E-B.
Nuevo Garcia Foods, LLC, is recalling 4,784 pounds of the meat due to misbranding and an undeclared allergen, according to the Food Safety and Inspection Service from the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
The packages are labeled “H-E-B Smokehouse Fully Cooked Smoked Seasoned Pulled Pork with BBQ Sauce.”
The recalled packages have the lot code “3135? with the best buy dates of Aug. 18, Aug. 25 and Sept. 1. The recalled packages also have “13205-A” inside the USDA mark of inspection.
“These items were shipped to an H-E-B warehouse for distribution to retail locations in Texas,” the recall states. “FSIS inspection personnel discovered the problem during routine label verification review and determined that soy lecithin was not listed on the pulled pork product label when it was used prior to the cooking process.”
So far, there have been no reports of adverse reactions due to consumption.
FSIS states consumers should throw the packages away or return them.
