SEGUIN, Texas – A 16-year-old student at Seguin High School was arrested after allegedly appearing in a photo holding a firearm in the school’s restroom, according to the Seguin Police Department.
Seguin police began investigating Wednesday morning after a school administrator saw the post circulating on social media.

The photo showed the teenager holding what appeared to be a firearm inside a restroom on school grounds, Seguin police said in a news release.
Police and administrators confirmed the teenager attended Seguin High School and was in possession of a weapon on campus.
The student was detained on Thursday and will be charged with possessing a weapon in a prohibited location, according to police.
Authorities don’t believe any threats were made toward another student or the campus.
Seguin police said there will be an increase in law enforcement on campus.

On January 30, 2025, a Seguin High School student was detained after bringing a weapon on campus earlier in the week.
Seguin ISD staff contacted Seguin Police as soon as they were made aware of a photo that was circulating on social media that appeared to show a juvenile holding a handgun on school grounds. After a thorough investigation, the student was identified as the individual in the photo.
The safety of students and staff is our top priority, and Seguin ISD staff took immediate action to maintain a safe environment once the district was aware of the image.
We are thankful for the collaborative effort from our campus staff in reporting this incident.
We want our parents to know that there will be an increased presence of law enforcement on campus over the next few days to provide extra support for SHS students and staff. Please know that an armed security officer is on each of our campuses to ensure student safety.
Students found in possession of weapons on any Seguin ISD campus will face disciplinary action according to the district’s code of conduct, as well as criminal charges from law enforcement.
