Suspect fatally shot in Sanger during ‘struggle’ with Denton Co. deputy, says sheriff’s office

Sanger police called on the sheriff’s office and other local police to help with a welfare check and “possible domestic disturbance.”

SANGER, Texas — Texas Rangers are now investigating a deadly shooting involving a deputy with the Denton County Sheriff’s Office (DCSO), according to a news release from the office.

Denton County deputies were called to help Sanger police with what was described as a “welfare check and possible domestic disturbance involving a male suspect with a weapon.” 

The call was reported in the 300 block of Lake Ridge Drive at 11:17 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 9. The DCSO said police from Krum and Pilot Point were also called to assist.

When Sanger officers made contact with the suspect, a Denton County deputy shot the man during the “struggle,” according to DCSO. The man was later pronounced dead.
