CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — A special ceremony was held to honor Texas A&M University- Corpus Christi’s graduating ROTC students Friday morning.
This tradition is held every year the day before the semester’s commencement ceremony and marks the graduates’ transition from cadets to officers
In the ceremony each student is presented a commemorative silver dollar for the ‘Silver Dollar Salute.’ It’s an army tradition in which newly commissioned Second Lieutenants present a silver dollar to the first enlisted soldier who salutes them.
3NEWS caught up with one of those students, Priciliano Diaz III, who is nothing short of proud of his accomplishment.
“Making my family proud, the name proud, both my mom’s side, my dad’s side, my friends, the cadre here who got me to this point,” he said. “It’s very humbling and I’m very very proud.”
From all of us here at 3NEWS congratulations to all of the students!
