Texas A&M Track and Field bring home ten medals at the SEC Outdoor Championships

The Texas A&M Track & Field teams had an impressive showing this past week at the SEC Outdoor Championship at the James G. Pressly Stadium at Percy Beard Track in Gainesville, Florida. The men’s team earned 103.5 points for a third-place finish only 6.5 back of the champion the Arkansas team. On the women’s side, they totaled 74 points for a fourth-place finish at the meet. Both teams spent most of the outdoor track season ranked in the top ten in the nation, and their showing across the three-day event validated those rankings.

There was a school record 13 personal best showings outside the ten medalists. Texas A&M Head Track coach Pat Henry was very pleased with how the team did and how close they came to taking the men’s title and spent a few minutes to talk about their performance.

“I’m extremely proud of our group’s performance this weekend. I thought we competed extremely well and were right in the mix on the final day. We had people step up all over the track and it came down to an extremely competitive final relay in a great atmosphere.”

The Aggies will be back on the track for the NCAA West Preliminary Round that will take place in Fayetteville, Arkansas on May 22-25. Below you can check out the ten medalist that helped lead each team to top-five finishes during the championship.
