Texas A&M’s 2024 basketball season is less than three months away. Head coach Buzz Williams’ sixth season with the program begins on Nov. 4 on the road against UCF. The Aggies will face one of the toughest nonconference schedules during William’s tenure.
Taking on Ohio State in a rematch before heading to Las Vegas for the Players Era Festival, the Aggies will find out just how good they are before heading into SEC play. The conference expanded after Texas and Oklahoma officially joined in July, resulting in future recruiting battles in nearly every sport, while the competition has also increased for the better.
On paper, this might be the most talented roster Williams has had since he arrived in College Station, as the return of star guard Wade Taylor IV headlines what should be a productive backcourt paired with transfer portal additions in former SMU guard Zhuric Phelps and former Nebraska sharpshooter CJ Welcher.
Up front, senior forwards Andersson Garcia and Henry Coleman return to the lineup. At the same time, junior Solomon Washington looks to take that next step in his development after his best season. Williams added former Minnesota forward Pharrell Payne from the portal, who is by far the most athletic big the program will see in several years.
