AUSTIN, Texas – Southwest Airlines continues to make headlines for all the wrong reasons as mass cancellations wreak havoc on travelers.
Extensive delays and missing luggage are also adding to the issues after the airline canceled more than 15,700 flights since the winter weather began disrupting air travel on December 22, according to CNN.
Weary travelers on the receiving end of the cancellations have lined up en masse at airports all over the country, including Austin-Bergstrom International Airport.
One Twitter user shared a video to social media of the customer service line at the airport on Monday. The video can be viewed in the media player at the top of this article.
According to FlightAware, 147 flights out of Austin had been canceled and 177 more were delayed on Tuesday; by 11 a.m. on Wednesday, FlightAware had reported 127 canceled flights at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport, Storyful reported.
“We have some real work to do in making this right. For now, I want you to know that we’re committed to that,” Southwest CEO Bob Jordan said in a video released Monday.
