Aggies close home slate with 17 events titles at Alumni Muster

   

COLLEGE STATION, Texas (KBTX) – The Texas A&M track & field team battled the elements on its way to 17 event wins at the Alumni Muster meet to close out its home slate at E.B. Cushing Stadium.

Julian Stoicoviciu started the day on a high note for the Aggies, as he claimed the first win of the day in the men’s javelin with a toss of 63.04m/206-10. McKenzie Fairchild ensured the sweep of the javelin events, winning the women’s event with a mark of 49.34m/161-10.

The Aggies continued to dominate in the field, picking up another four victories. Jack Mann III had his best performance of the season in the men’s pole vault, as he cleared 5.36m/17-7 on his final attempt to secure the win.

On the women’s side, Sevanna Hanson took the title as she soared over 4.05m/13-3.5. Carlie Weiser wrapped up the victories with a double-win day. First, she had a career performance in the discus with a toss of 54.62m/179-2, and then followed that up with a mark of 14.89m/48-10.25 in the shot put. Both winning marks broke the Alumni Muster meet records.

Shifting to the track, the men’s 4x100m relay set the tone with a first-place result. The quartet of Isaiah Teer, Devante Mount, Omarion Ferguson and Keanu Jones brought the win home in 40.74.

The Maroon & White also claimed another pair of relay wins as the men’s 4x400m team of Jevon O’Bryant, Cutler Zamzow, Auhmad Robinson and DeMarco Escobar and women’s 4x400m relay group consisting of Jaydan Wood, Jermaisha Arnold, Bailey Goggans and Kennedy Wade finished their races in 3:07.16 and 3:42.08, respectively.

Zamzow doubled down on victories for the day, winning the 200m event in a wind assisted 21.37. Kimar Farquharson ensured his second-straight 800m victory, as he crossed the line in 1:47.26. Victor Kibiego added to the long list of wins, as he added a 1500m title to his name with a time of 3:50.28.

The Aggies won all three hurdle events they entered, highlighted by senior day honoree Connor Schulman. He dominated the 110m hurdle field and crossed the line in 13.62. Jaiya Covington won the women’s 100m hurdles in 13.58, while Kirk Collins, Jr. also secured a senior day victory in the 400m hurdles in 53.03.

A&M’s distance group got to display their talents in the 3,000m steeplechase, as they won both the men’s and women’s titles. Emma Little spotlighted the event, as she moved up a spot on the all-time performers list to No. 9 finishing in 10:45.99. Jonathan Chung got his final home meet moment, as he came down the Cushing straight ahead of the pack and crossed the line in 9:04.89.

Adding another notable mark to the field event list was Timara Chapman. She recorded a leap (6.27m/20-7) that marked her at No. 12 all-time for the Aggies in the women’s long jump.

The Aggies split up as they head to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, for the Penn Relays and Lubbock, Texas, for the Corky/Crofoot Shootout, with both meets being held April 25-27.
