Manhunt underway in Warren County for Texas murder suspect

   

WE HAVE A BREAKING NEWS UPDATE– THE MANHUNT FOR A MURDER SUSPECT IN WARREN COUNTY IS OVER WITH THAT PERSON IN CUSTODY. WARREN COUNTY SHERIFF MARTIN PACE TELLS 16 WAPT IT ENDED WHEN THE WANTED MAN SIMPLY WALKED OUT OF THE WOODS. HE SAYS 29-YEAR-OLD MARCUS THOMPSON OF WEBSTER, TEXAS WAS TAKEN INTO CUSTODY ABOUT 6:15 THIS MORNING BY TWO DEPUTIES WHO WERE RUNNING A CHECKPOINT AT HIGHWAY-27 AND “CHINA GROVE ROAD”. THE SHERIFF SAYS THEY HAD BEEN IN THAT AREA ALL NIGHT– EVER SINCE THEY FOUND A CAR WITH TEXAS ABANDONED OFF THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. DEPUTIES RAN THE PLATES AND LEARNED THE CAR BELONGED TO A MURDER VICTIM IN TEXAS AND THE PERSON SUSPECTED OF KILLING THEM

Warren County manhunt ends when Texas murder suspect walks out of the woods

The alleged suspect was driving the murder victim’s car, Sheriff Martin Pace says

A manhunt for a Texas murder suspect ended early Tuesday in Warren County when the wanted man walked out of the woods.Sheriff Martin Pace said Marcus Jamar Thompson, 29, of Webster, Texas, was taken into custody at about 6:15 a.m. by two deputies who were running a checkpoint at Highway 27 and China Grove Road. Pace said the investigation began Monday night when deputies recovered a black Nissan Altima with Texas plates in the China Grove community. He said the Nissan Altima belongs to a murder victim out of West Texas.The suspect got out of the vehicle on foot in the area. Deputies found what they believed were some of the suspect’s personal belongings in the woods.Pace said they staked out the vehicle for several hours, but the suspect never returned. The search was broadened to involve dogs and drones. Thompson was about 100 yards away from the deputies when he walked out of the woods. Pace said he was taken into custody without incident.”This guy is a very bad actor. He has committed heinous crimes in the state of Texas. He was in the China Grove community of Warren County. We knew he was desperate — he was needing transportation, he was needing to be out of that area, and we were going to stay on him until we brought him into custody,” Pace said. “We couldn’t leave that individual out there where he could possibly victimize someone else in our county.”Pace said Thompson has a relative in Vicksburg and several relatives in the parishes across the bridge in Louisiana. The Webster Police Department in Louisiana, said Thompson is suspected in a homicide reported Monday, in which the victim’s vehicle was stolen. Thompson is now awaiting extradition back to Webster to face murder charges.
