No. 12 Texas A&M Sweeps Ole Miss, 2-0, On Senior Day

   

BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION – The No. 12 Texas A&M softball team shutout Ole Miss, 2-0, to extend its winning streak to six games, Sunday afternoon at Davis Diamond. It marked the first time in program history the Aggies swept three SEC opponents in a season.

Aggie starter Emiley Kennedy (19-7) dominated Ole Miss striking out seven, while yielding two hits. The left-handed pitcher retired six straight to end the game to record her eighth shutout of the season.

Texas A&M (37-9, 15-6 SEC) plated a run in the second inning after senior Rylen Wiggins singled through the left side. The Aggies loaded the bases in the sixth inning after a walk, fielder’s choice and walk before being gifted an insurance run with a wild pitch.

Ole Miss (25-22, 3-15 SEC) threated in the second inning with a leadoff double before the Aggies shut it down with back-to-back flyouts and a strikeout looking.

Texas A&M has won six of seven SEC series this season, which matches program best set by the 2017 squad.

Texas A&M hosts Houston at 6 p.m. on Tuesday at Davis Diamond, before traveling to Sam Houston on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m.
