The Democrat’s unofficial motto is “it’s okay when we do it.” Case in point; failed Georgia gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams can apparently deny the results of her election from sun up to sun down and no one who promotes her lie will be censored by any social media platforms.
According to Fox News, Abrams appeared on that bastion of rational thought, “The View,” and proceeded to finally admit she lost her 2018 bid against Brian Kemp, but did proceed to make excuses as to why she lost. While the hosts showered her with praise for her second attempt against Kemp, they threw in the idea that the election she lost then was illegitimate and Abrams actually thanked them for doing so:
“So this is your second run against incumbent Brian Kemp for governor, and polls show a tight race, especially the poll this morning. When you lost in 2018, you didn’t traditionally concede which I appreciated because you cited voter suppression. Are you confident that this will be a free and fair election, and not a repeat performance of what happened before?” co-host Sunny Hostin asked.
Abrams said she appreciated the framing of Hostin’s question. “I have never denied that I lost. I don’t live in the governor’s mansion. I would have noticed,” she said.
This is a lie, she actually did claim she won the 2018 election. She made claims of voter suppression and said that “concession means to acknowledge an action is right, true or proper. As a woman of conscience and faith, I cannot concede.”
The issue with the voter suppression claim in Georgia is that the turnout for that election was 57 percent, a whopping number for that state, especially when not in a presidential election year.
Abrams continued after The View hosts showered her with praise for “admitting” she didn’t win, noting “that’s such a rare thing.”
“I did it on the day I didn’t win,” Abrams said. “I’m not the governor, said that. The other is the election wasn’t fair to voters. Also said that. In this country, we have the responsibility to challenge broken systems… I don’t say things without evidence, and that I think is the distinction that is being lost in this attempt to conflate who I am and what I have done for the last four years with others.”
Only she did when she claimed she’d won and that the voters of Georgia were suppressed.
Abrams is clearly changing her tune on her previously established narrative because it doesn’t do to have the mainstream narrative that denying election results is a bad thing. If she did it for her own election then it would only encourage Americans to get louder about questioning the results of the 2020 election. Abrams might be a gaslighting liar but she is a loyal Democrat Party member. Her true loyalty is to them and it benefits the party more for her to say her election loss was legitimate.
It will be very interesting to see how the Democrats respond to their losses in November, and even more so should they lose the White House in 2024. It’s safe to say that Abrams may be one of the first to begin declaring elections illegitimate.
