State Rep. Glenn Rogers also answers whether he’ll vote for Sen. Ted Cruz, who supported his opponent in the primary.
TEXAS, USA — Conservative state Rep. Glenn Rogers, R-Graford, doesn’t do a lot of TV interviews.
But he decided to join Inside Texas Politics for a no-holds-barred conversation.
The Graford Republican lost to conservative challenger Mike Olcott in the Texas House District 60 primary, which includes Parker, Palo Pinto and Stephens counties.
Because Rep. Rogers opposes school vouchers and voted to impeach Attorney General Ken Paxton, his opponent received endorsements from Gov. Greg Abbott, Paxton and Sen. Ted Cruz.
Now that he lost, will Rogers vote for Cruz this November in his U.S. Senate race against Democratic Congressman Colin Allred?
“Will I support him against a Democrat? I’ll hold my nose and do it; yes, I will,” Rogers told us bluntly. “I’ll vote for a Republican over a Democrat any time.”
Rogers is also seriously considering writing a book about his time in the legislature, the bruising primary he just went through that he says was full of misinformation and lies, and the state of the GOP civil war in Texas.
As a lawmaker who finds himself in the thick of it all, Rogers says he’s in a unique position to provide inside information.
“I don’t want to tell you too much,” he answered when pushed on some of the specific anecdotes he might include.
Rogers did tell us he’ll eventually try to spend a couple of hours every morning working on the book.
But first, he says he’s taking some time off and getting his thoughts together as he recovers from what he calls “post-campaign PTSD.”
