1 woman dead, 1 woman in custody after apparent road rage shooting on far West Side, SAPD says

SAN ANTONIO – One woman is dead and another woman has been arrested after an apparent road rage incident on the city’s far West Side late Sunday night, according to San Antonio police.

Officers were called around 9:40 p.m. to a Murphy’s USA gas station in the 7600 block of NW Loop 410, not far from Highway 151 and Military Drive after receiving word of a shooting.

According to police, officers arrived to find a 26-year-old woman on the ground by the gas pumps with an apparent gunshot wound.

Police said two vehicles had been involved in a crash at another location. That’s when, police say, one of the drivers followed the other to the gas station.

A preliminary police report states the suspect told officers she followed after the woman to get her license plate number. When the woman pulled up behind the victim, the victim exited her vehicle and came over to the woman’s car and opened the door and started to assault her, the suspect said.

SAPD said the shooter, a 23-year-old woman, was still sitting in her car when she fired at the victim. The victim retreated to her vehicle and laid down on the ground, until emergency crews arrived.

The woman shot in the chest was taken by ambulance to a University Hospital, where she later died. She has not been identified.

SAPD said they took the other woman into custody. She has since been charged with murder. Her name has not yet been released.

The San Antonio Police Department, the San Antonio Fire Department and EMS all responded to the call.

The investigation is ongoing, police said.
