College Station man arrested after attempted sexual assault on A&M campus

A College Station man was arrested Wednesday after allegedly attempting to sexually assault someone inside their Mosher Hall dorm room on Texas A&M University’s campus, according to the A&M Police Department.

Christian Young, 21, has been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, two counts of burglary of a habitation and a misdemeanor, according to Brazos County Jail records. He has not been charged with sexual assault at the time of publication.

Early Sunday, police said they received a report of an attempted sexual assault. According to the probable cause report obtained by The Eagle, the victim reported that she woke up around 5 a.m. to a male holding a pair of scissors to her neck threatening to sexually assault her. Police said the victim kicked the suspect and he left the room. The victim told police that after the suspect left, she discovered that her money was missing.

Students staying in a dorm room connected to the victim’s by a shared bathroom, told police that some of their money was also missing.

During the investigation, police said surveillance video from Mosher Hall showed the suspect follow a student into the dorm building just before the door closed. The victim later confirmed that the man in the video was the man who had attempted to assault her, according to the probable cause report.

Screen shots of the video were uploaded to a data base and found a match to Young’s driver’s license, according to police.

In the video, the suspect is seen wearing a Taco Bell hat and police said the restaurant confirmed that Young was employed at a location near campus. Police said a time sheet from Taco Bell showed Young leave work 45 minutes before the attempted assault took place.

According to the probable cause report, Young was seen the next day, Monday, at Mosher Hall at around 2 a.m.

Aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and burglary of a habitation are both second-degree felonies punishable by up to 20 years in prison and a maximum fine of $10,000.

Young does not appear to have been a student at A&M, according to the university’s online directory.
